Court Brushing

In normal circumstances, this would not be Latest News because we aspire to brush once every fortnight. However, it deserves that description on this occasion  because it was the first time for a while due to weather conditions; not feasible in wet, frosty or snowy conditions! We kept having to postpone.

On Monday 9 February, when the court surfaces were “merely damp”, we took the opportunity. It is a two man job and in the picture above you see Sid Hall on the tractor swinging round from court 5 heading to go up the ramps into court 3. Asif Hasan, also seen in picture, has in advance carried and positioned the two ramps, you can see the tip of one, and has lowered court 5 net to create a path for the tractor to get through. He will be doing a similar job on the higher courts and will reinstate and put away, timed as Sid finishes the total brushing of the five courts.

That we got the brushing done in less than an hour, during the weather window, was good news as the courts were then pooled etc. during the rest of the week (for example, see the main picture taken on Wednesday 11 February)
