This note is to update on progress in the first week, that is, starting 16 March 2026. The work is being carried out by Fosse who laid courts 1 to 3 this time last year.
Paraphrasing the quote from Fosse, as a preliminary, a section of the existing (paling) fence was peeled back for access. They will reinstate upon completion of the works.
The existing artificial grass carpet was taken up in its entirety and removed from the site.
The existing surface was then pressure cleaned and loose material and detritus was removed. The surface was then proof rolled to flatten the area, before holes were pierced in the surface, those then filled with clean stone chippings (to assist future drainage).
The photographs illustrate the process:
The main photo shows, towards the right, the gap on the fence, allowing access from Linden Road. The need for that access is clear from the size of visible machinery. Lifting the existing carpet has only just commenced.

By now the uplifting of the carpet is well underway. Notice the lines from when historically the courts were tarmac.

Holes were drilled at regular intervals. For each hole, there is an infill of stone chippings.

Friday of the first week. All holes filled with chippings and the work on track.
The process continues next week; another surface is laid in between what you see and the finished article, the artificial grass. Watch for the summary at the end of the second week!
