On 16 March 2026, Fosse Contracts will arrive on site to commence the process of replacing the existing, and now unsatisfactory, court surfaces of courts 4 and 5. The end product will be two new sand dressed artificial grass courts.
The process involves uplifting the existing “carpet”, careful preparation, including levelling, on what is underneath before putting down a level permeable screed upon which the artificial grass courts will then be laid.
In addition, the tired wire fence at the Linden Road end will be replaced with a more substantial fencing, fixed in a way to ease future maintenance access and reduce damage to mesh from falling debris.
One of the photographs shows the fragile nature of the present fencing, something very shortly to be a thing of the past. We shall also be seeing, and without regret, the last of the substantial pooling illustrated on the second photograph.

Also of interest in the second photograph and immediately to the left of the floodlight post, a relatively small gap can be seen in the hedge. The contractors will take down the paling fence behind ( replacing when the work is concluded) in order to get their materials and the redundant matter in and out.
The contractors say the whole project might take as long as five weeks but the optimists of us are hoping for something less. We do hope members can bear with us on this, however long it in fact takes, bearing in mind the long term benefits for the club!
Thank you for your patience
