Who we are
Keswick Lawn Tennis Club and Braithwaite Tennis Club merged together in 2014, creating a total of 6 private courts for our members situated in two stunning locations.
We are a friendly and welcoming bunch who try and play as much tennis as the weather allows! Most club sessions are relaxed and inviting and with the main priority on having fun and improving!
Many friendships have been formed through joining the club, and we like to think that it is one of the main reasons why the club has grown and been so successful since 2012. If you have a fun sense of humour, friendly attitude or you're willing to muck in and help out then you'll find plenty of like minded people who will make you feel welcome and play tennis with!
Committee
We have a hard working and forward thinking committee that meet every quarter as well as several smaller meetings as projects or situations arise. The clubs appeal to hard working individuals who want to see the club improve and grow together has been crucial in order to withstand the challenges presented by the merger of the two clubs. These challenges include developing and upgrading the facilities and most recently surviving Storm Desmond which destroyed the grass courts in 2015. It is also important to regularly refresh the committee to ensure new ideas are presented and the health of the club over the long term is sustained. If you are interested in getting involved in any capacity no matter how small, please let us know!
Get to know the area
Being a member is about more than just playing tennis, it's a chance to get to know all sorts of different people and make lasting friendships. Within a small community like Keswick, joining the club is a great way to get to know the locals and find out about what's happening in the area. Our members are from all sorts of professions (perhaps with a surplus of B&B owners!) and it's a great way to network and get involved within the town. Often there are a few groups who go for drinks and food after club nights and matches, especially in the summer!
Socials
Each year we try and host both a summer party and Christmas meal for all the members and their partners to attend. In 2014 and 2015 the summer parties were extremely successful due to Mike and Rosie Green hosting an excellent outdoor BBQ and marque in their wonderful garden.
