Match Report Maryport v Keswick (Singles Team)
The first outing of the very recently formed Keswick singles team was away to Maryport on Sunday 24th April.
Malc, Tom and I were greeted by the ever effervescent Jenny; Maryports captain, and to Keith and Debbie.
Tom played very well winning all 3 of his matches however Tom admitted it was not a walkover particularly with Keith who battled best when behind defending 5 set points. Tom was also impressed with Debbie’s fitness who continued to have long rallies even after a 7:11 tie break v Ivan from the previous round!
Malc who I believe has never played for a tennis team before acquitted himself very well winning 2 of his 3 games and although knackered at the end of 3 hours enjoyed every moment.
Ivan set a bad example as team captain by only winning 1 of his 3 matches but did win the match v Debbie coming back 3:8 down in the deciding tie break.
The final result was Maryport 3 Keswick 6
