As winners of the West Cumbria Tennis League, Keswick Ladies qualified to play in the Cumbria Cup - a competition for the winners of the 4 tennis leagues in Cumbria.  This was held at Chatsworth on Saturday 3rd September.

As reported earlier the WCTL ladies league was extremely close between Keswick & Lorton. Although it was finally agreed to determine the league on games won (resulting in Keswick being declared champions) we had suggested sharing the trophy for this year. It was therefore thought appropriate to have a combined team for the Cumbria Cup team.

Unfortunately only the Carlisle and West Cumbria Leagues were represented.  However this made the format easy with the match consisting of 2 doubles pairs per team each playing 2 sets with a champions tiebreak (if required) against each of the other team’s pairs.

There was some excellent tennis and the match was enjoyed by all. Although Julie, Petra, Lucy and Jo put up a very good fight against a strong Chatsworth team which included 3 players in their 20s, youth triumphed and Chatsworth retained the Cumbria Cup that they also won against us last year.
