Social secretary job description

Keswick & Braithwaite Lawn Tennis Club

Job description for committee role – Social secretary

Introduction

The purpose of this role is to be responsible for coordinating the organisation of the club’s social events.  The club has a reputation for being extremely sociable and welcoming. The members have proven to be very supportive and willing to help when there is someone to coordinate events – we just need that person to take charge and oversee the social side of the club’s activities and tell us all what to do.

In recent years we have held three informal social events per year (start of season, end of season and Christmas social).  We have also held monthly club social tournaments.  We would welcome someone who could build on these foundations and bring any fresh ideas for new social events

Responsibilities

  • oversee club social events and social tournaments liaising with members to get volunteers/support to organise and run events
  • be an integral member of the club’s committee and attend committee meetings
  • update the committee on recent and future social events at each committee meeting
  • bring any new ideas for social events to the committee and take forward the implementation of anything agreed
  • provide regular updates on recent and future social events to the website coordinator for uploading to the website
  • work with the committee and other members to ensure that events are well publicised eg getting articles in the Keswick Reminder
