The Ivor Jones Trophy was competed for on Saturday 20th April. The rather blustery conditions did not deter some excellent match play from the 15 entrants. It was fantastic to see new adult members taking part and particularly the great turnout from our young players coached by RSA Coaching. These youngsters are the lifeblood of the club and showed a maturity of play and excellent court conduct integrating with the senior players in the club. Mens and ladies pairings played each other in a 20 minute match which included a sudden death deuce. The ladies and gents with the highest number of games won then battled it out in a final where Craig Woolnough and Debbie Faulkner took on Carol Websdale and Richard Brabben. In an excellent match, producing some lovely tennis play, Carol and Richard won through.
Thanks to Lucy and Richard for organising and Sheila for keeping participants supplied with drinks and food. A great time had by all. Our next tournament will be the Dell Trophy in June, at one of the club evenings.
