MEDBOURNE TENNIS CLUB JUNE 2017 NEWSLETTER

I hope that you are as pleased with the way that the Club is running as is your Committee. Finances are good, the number of members has stabilised, coaching is working well and plenty of you are playing tennis both socially and in teams.

We are trying to keep it simple and focus only on what the members want without being overly ambitious. Clearly if you have any new ideas please let a Committee member know

As a result this newsletter is brief

CODE TO ACCESS COURTS IS CHANGING

From 30th June the lock code will change to 1215 from 1066

COACHING

The Junior Summer Camp is now arranged for the mornings between 31st July and 2 nd August inclusive – details are on the website. As a result the courts will NOT be available for general play until 1pm on any of these dates. We are working on a start date for evening Adult Coaching, hopefully from September.

INTERNAL TENNIS

The recent American tournament for Charity raised £80 for the Lifeboat Association.

Please contact Sue if you want to enter the next two American Tournaments – the first 16 applicants will play. The cost is £5 per entrant which goes to charity

MENS – 10th September

LADIES – 6th October

FRIENDLY TENNIS MATCHES

We are arranging friendly matches which once again will take place after the season in August / September. Information will be sent to all members once dates are fixed

Open Day

The club is holding an open day event on Sunday 2nd July 2017 10.00 – 1.00pm. The event is open to the families, adults and children to come along and meet the coaches and members and to have ‘taster’ sessions of coaching and playing friendly games. This has been advertised widely, please tell your friends about this ‘Free’ event.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

We will be running another Fish and Chip Quiz. At present it is planned for 17th November but the date needs to be finalised. Again it will be for teams of up to 6 with a maximum of 54 participants. I am hoping that my friend Richard will devise and run the quiz again. It will again be general knowledge.

Two further points.

1      We are pushing the Sports Club hard to repair the damage to the slabs in the car park facing Court 1. Please be cautious yourselves and ultra cautious with children. We don’t want any injuries.

2.    Please lock the courts when you finish playing.

Enjoy Wimbledon and your own tennis – have a wonderful Summer!!
