Performance Analysis

Within the tennis department at Millfield we are fortunate to have the resources that allow objective feedback for coaches and players to assist in the development of a player's performance. There is a Performance Analysis intern at the School while Matt leads the PA within the tennis department given his University background in the subject.

We have an IP camera over one of our indoor courts which can record sessions and is generally used with tactical analysis and also assists in the production of American College videos. Practice matches are consistently recorded using the camera with the footage being sent to the players immediately after.

To analyse footage we optimise Team Performance Exchange (TPE) and Team Performance Analysis (TPA) software. TPA allows us to 'code' footage into key performance indicators which is individualised to each player and in turn also creates statistics for the match. TPE is the platform which allows us to share the footage online with the players. Players and coaches have access to the footage and are able to create a discussion around each video. On the technical side coaches utilise 'Coache's Eye' to allow for real-time feedback where videos can be notated on the spot and compared with previous performance or with professional players. This also can then be transferred onto TPE to view later.
