Players, young and old, know how to celebrate the end of the great year of tennis in Stowmarket. Ben Smith, Head Coach, came off court, dressed as an elf and nose as red from the frost as Rudolph's, and said "that's the best tennis camp so far...everyone played well and, even better, made it such fun for each other".
Josh Abbott won Junior Player of the Year and Victoria Wilk won Junior Role Model of the Year at the awards ceremony held in the air dome just before players and their families joined other club members in the clubhouse making 60 for hot chocolate, mulled wine (for the adults), mince pies donated by Anna Astin of Cook, and mini chocolate logs and vegan fudge. Grateful thanks to Ben and his team including Debs, Harper and Joe; the catering team led by Chantelle, and Steve Abbott for the photography.
And this is just the start as winter tennis, both competitive and social, carries on right through Christmas. Coaching groups will mark each last session of the year this week. Club members meet for drinks in a local hostelry after club night on 22 December, and everyone is invited to Boxing Day club morning as has been the case for years and years.
