LTA Tennis Leaders

Tennis Leaders, the LTA’s Youth Leadership Programme, has been re-launched to open up the programme to even more young people.

Delivered by LTA Accredited Coaches at tennis venues as well as secondary school teachers within education, the LTA Tennis Leaders programme initially launched in 2005 and sees close to 3,000 young people enrolled on the course each year. It is designed to develop young people’s leadership skills, that can be applied across roles within tennis, sport or more widely into other aspects of life.

Now also recognised and accredited by SLQ Sports Leaders, the re-launched Tennis Leaders course brings it in line with the new LTA Youth Secondary Schools Programme which went live last month, and caters for an expanded age range to now incorporate children and young people aged 11+.

In line with this, the course content has been given a refresh to make it suitable for a wider range of ages, whether an individual is starting out on their tennis career pathway, right through to older teenagers looking to support their local coach, official or club committee. The programme can act as a pathway into a range of future opportunities and careers in tennis for young people, and as a pre-cursor to gaining qualifications such as becoming a Coaching Assistant (Level 1) – the first stage of the LTA’s coaching pathway.
