Defibrillator

The committee has determined we should invest in a defibrillator as a safety aid.

We have thus purchased one at an advantageous price via the LTA.

The unit is in plain sight and is ready to use, the battery pack should last 3 years. Unlike the other 2 located in the village it does not need a code from the authorities to use.

Usage is self explanatory and the unit is fully automatic. The voice prompts will 'talk' you through its use and it will only give a shock to restart someone's heart if required.

CPR is still needed and obviously a 999 call should be made immediately.

A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, regardless of age or fitness, you will recall the footballer during the recent European Championships.

Use of a defibrillator can greatly increase the chance of survival after a cardiac incident so we are sure this is a welcome addition to our safety.

Hopefully we will never have to use it.
