New to Tennis or Just Starting Out?
It's never too late to learn tennis, and Corbridge Tennis Club provides a welcoming atmosphere for adult beginners. Here's how we can help you get started:
- Beginner Coaching Sessions: Our partners, We Do Tennis, run excellent introductory coaching groups specifically designed for adults new to the game or those who haven't played in a long time. These focus on learning the basic strokes, rules, and getting you playing points quickly in a fun, social group.
• Our current session suitable for beginners and those looking to improve is on Saturdays, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Please check with We Do Tennis via the Coaching Page for suitability and any specific beginner course start dates they may offer. - What Club Membership Means for Beginners: With an Adult Membership (or Coaching Only Membership if just attending coaching), you gain access to these introductory programmes. Full Adult Membership also gives you access to our convenient online court booking system to practice with other new players or friends.
- Equipment: Rackets can often be borrowed for initial coaching sessions (confirm with We Do Tennis). Just wear comfortable sportswear and trainers.
- Gentle Social Play: Once you have some basics, you might feel comfortable joining some of our more relaxed social sessions. Our Coaches can advise when you're ready.
Our goal is to make learning tennis accessible, enjoyable, and a great way to meet new people.
Looking for Social Play & to Improve Your Game?
If you can already play (even if a bit rusty) and are looking for regular games, a chance to improve, and a friendly social atmosphere, Corbridge offers plenty:
- Club Social Tennis Sessions: This is the heart of social tennis at most clubs.
• We have regular organised sessions where you turn up and mix in with other members for friendly doubles. Current examples include:

• Ladies Coffee Morning (includes coaching element): Mondays, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
• See the full Club Schedule for all current social tennis times. These are a great way to meet playing partners without having to pre-arrange.
• Note: Sessions can sometimes be moved or cancelled due to matches; members are kept updated via club WhatsApp groups. - Online Court Booking: A major benefit. With an Adult or Student Membership, you can easily book courts online to play with friends or other members at your convenience.

• Current session: Saturdays, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (Adult Beginners & Improvers).
• Ladies Team coaching: Mondays, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM (with Ian).
• Check the Coaching Page for details or contact We Do Tennis. - Finding Playing Partners: Joining social sessions and club WhatsApp groups (details on joining) are the best ways to connect with other players.
Our club thrives on its friendly social scene, offering many ways to enjoy tennis and meet new people.
Interested in Competitive Team Tennis?
For experienced players looking to represent the club in league matches against other clubs, Corbridge Tennis Club has a strong tradition of team tennis.
- Club Teams: We typically enter Men's, Ladies', and sometimes Mixed teams in local leagues. (Details of current teams can be found on the Team Fixtures page, or ask a committee member).
- Team Practice Sessions: These are dedicated sessions for team players to train together.
• Current Adult Team Practice: Mondays, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
• Wednesdays (often 2nd Team Practice / Social Play), 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
• Ladies Team coaching/practice also occurs on Monday mornings (see Schedule). - What it Means to Play Team Tennis: This usually involves a commitment to attend practice sessions and be available for league matches (home and away) throughout the season. It's a rewarding way to improve your game and enjoy a competitive team spirit.
- Getting Involved: If you're an experienced player interested in joining a team, please make yourself known to our Coaches (We Do Tennis), team captains (contacts often available via club communications or the Contacts Page), or a committee member. They can advise on standards and how to integrate.
- Membership Required: Full Adult or Student Membership is required for team play.
Representing the club in team matches is a fantastic experience for competitive players.
