Senior Players

Welcome to Seniors & Vets tennis at Corbridge Tennis Club. Whether you're an experienced player, returning to the game after a break, or looking to pick up a racket for the first time to stay active and socialise, we offer a friendly and enjoyable environment for players aged 45 and over.

Why Tennis is Great for Seniors & Vets:

  • Stay Active & Healthy: Tennis is a fantastic low-impact sport for maintaining fitness, flexibility, and cardiovascular health.
  • Social Connection: Our club provides a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, make friends, and enjoy a shared interest.
  • Fun & Engaging: It's a sport you can enjoy for many years, offering both mental stimulation and physical activity.
  • Welcoming to All Levels: We cater to various abilities, from those just starting to seasoned players.

🎾 An Update on Coaching Opportunities:

Our professional coaching programme is currently being updated. Our LTA accredited coaches can tailor instruction to your needs, and new programmes are planned for the Autumn with the Tynedale Tennis Academy (TTA). A Corbridge Tennis Club Membership is generally required. Please see our Coaching Page to see currently available sessions and for future updates, including:
• Our Monday morning sessions which continue as normal.
• Private 1:1 lessons which can be arranged.

Friendly Social Tennis: Our Most Popular Option!

Many of our senior and vet members particularly enjoy our organised social tennis sessions. These are a great way to get regular play, meet other members, and enjoy the game in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. No need to pre-arrange partners - just turn up!

  • Senior Social Morning:
    • **Currently on Fridays, 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM.** This is a dedicated session primarily for our senior and vet members, often involving friendly doubles and a chance to socialise.
  • Adult Ladies & Gents Coffee Morning (with Coaching Element):
    • Mondays, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM. A great mix of coached drills and social play.
  • Other Club Social Sessions: Depending on your playing level and preference, you may also enjoy our other general adult social sessions.
    • Tuesdays, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    • Wednesdays (often 2nd Team Practice / Social Play), 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
    • See the full Club Schedule for all current social tennis times.
  • Staying Informed: Members are kept updated on session details and any changes via club WhatsApp groups (details on joining).

To participate in social tennis, an Adult Membership or Social Membership is typically required.

Learning Tennis or Improving Your Skills?

It's never too late to learn or to brush up on your technique. We encourage players of all abilities.

  • Coaching Opportunities: Our coaches offer various options suitable for beginners or improvers:
    • New beginner and improver sessions are planned for the Autumn. Keep an eye on our Coaching Page.
    • The Ladies Coffee Morning on Mondays (10:30 AM - 11:30 AM) includes a coached element.
Private 1:1 lessons can be arranged for personalised attention.
  • Practice Makes Perfect: With an Adult Membership, you can use our convenient online court booking system to book courts for practice sessions.

An Adult Membership or Adult Coaching Only Membership (if only attending coaching) would be suitable here.

General Court Play & Competitive Opportunities

Beyond organised sessions, being a member offers flexibility for your tennis:

  • Online Court Booking: A key benefit of Adult Membership is access to our easy-to-use online system. Book a court to play with friends, family, or other members at a time that suits you.
  • Finding Playing Partners: The social sessions are the best way to meet other players. Club WhatsApp groups also help members connect.
  • Interested in Competitive Team Play? Many of our senior and vet members enjoy the camaraderie and challenge of playing in league teams. For the 2025 season, we are entering several teams suitable for this age group into the Dunlop Northumberland & Durham leagues.

A full Adult Membership is required for team play.

Membership Options for Seniors & Vets

Most of our senior and vet members choose one of the following (see our Membership Guide for full details):

  • Adult Membership: Offers full access to court booking, all social sessions, coaching (fees apply), and team eligibility.
  • Social Membership: For those primarily interested in attending the organised weekly club social sessions only.
  • Adult Coaching Only Membership: If you only wish to participate in our paid coaching sessions.

Some clubs offer specific "Senior" or "Off-Peak" memberships. While we don't currently have a distinct category named this, our standard Adult and Social memberships provide excellent value and access to daytime play.
