American Doubles Tournament

The mixed American Doubles Tournament held on Sunday 11th June was a great success, some really good tennis was enjoyed by all 16 members who took part and the weather was good as well.
Our thanks go to Sue Gardiner for organising the event, even though Sue was not able play herself.
The tournament took the form of 5 rounds of random mixed doubles, 7 games per round and sudden death on deuce, all in all lasting for about 3 hours. The results were very close both for the top positions and for the 1st and 2nd places and winners were:
Ladies 1st place Kate Lloyd
Mens 1st place Steve Purnell
Ladies 2nd place Louise Hubbard
Mens 2nd place Julian Hubbard
Ladies 3rd place Mary Chapman
Mens 3rd place Ben Lovell
Congratulations to our winners.
We celebrated the event with tea and lovely cakes afterwards in the clubhouse.
The event raised £80.00 for the Lifeboat association, chosen by Mary Chapman.
Yet again, another great afternoon of tennis at Medbourne Tennis Club.
