I am pleased to report that it has been a very positive year for all our teams both in the Summer & Winter Leagues this year.
The results in the Summer leagues:-
Men's Doubles - Group 5A - Medbourne I - 3rd out of 9
Men's Doubles - Group 8B - Medbourne II - 2nd out of 8
Women's Doubles - Group 4A - Medbourne I - 3rd out of 10
(finished on same points & rubbers as 2nd position but one less win)
Women's Doubles - Group 6A - Medbourne II - 2nd out of 9
Mixed Doubles - Group 5A - Medbourne - 4th out of 6
The unconfirmed results in the Winter leagues (as matches can be played until 31st January):-
Men's Doubles - Group 8 - Medbourne I - 2nd out of 8 (one match to be played could affect this result
Men's Doubles - Group 11 - Medbourne II - 5th out of 8
Women's Doubles - Group 9 - Medbourne - 2nd out of 8
All teams who have achieved second place will be promoted.
I would like to thank all the captains – Julian, Peter, Kate, Helen & Rob - for the hard work & commitment shown in organising the teams and for their communication of results. Without the time & huge effort that they give, Medbourne Tennis Club would not be as successful & enjoyed by so many as much as it is today.
A big thank you as well to all those who play & represent our tennis club throughout the year. It is a credit to you all that we often hear players from other clubs say how much they enjoy playing against us as we appear to be viewed as a friendly & welcoming club. To my mind that is a win no matter what the match result.
The same number of teams have been entered into the 2018 leagues.
Thank you to Jane too for organising the Wimbledon draw & for supporting me throughout the year in organising the league fixtures.
