This year’s summer tournament at Magdalen Park was everything we love about the club - and more. Over three weeks, members old and new came together for some brilliant tennis, great food, and the kind of relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that makes Maggie feel so special. It was a perfect mix of sport, socialising, and community - and a true reflection of what makes this club unlike any other.

The tennis itself didn’t disappoint. Every evening brought excellent tennis to watch, where the standard of play was seriously impressive - almost as impressive as the scheduling that ensured such a huge number of matches got played in such limitted time!  The entire tournament was masterfully organised by Emily, who took care of everything from the match draws to the tiniest details. Her energy, care, and attention behind the scenes were incredible, and we’re so grateful for all she put into making it a success.

But the tournament was about far more than just tennis. Each night, members gathered around the terrace and courtside for home-cooked meals, thanks to a team of generous volunteers who stepped up to cook something different every evening. With the Pimms flowing and food shared over laughter and stories, the social side of the tournament really shone through. A huge thank you goes to Amy and her bar team for keeping things running so smoothly behind the scenes.

Of course, Magdalen Park wouldn’t be Magdalen Park without a bit of light-hearted fun. From frinedly heckling, to games, to spontaneous karaoke performances and the ever-popular themed parties, there was always something going on. New doubles pairings formed, friendships deepened, and there was a real sense of ease and community as people came down night after night.
