Booking tips

For the fairness and overall benefit of club members, it's important that each of us adhere and keep in mind good booking practices.

General booking information

Booking Courts

You may book a court up to one week in advance. Bookings open at 8.30am on each day, eg. bookings for Saturday 10 May open at 8.30am on Saturday 3 May · When booking a court, you must follow our booking tips, otherwise your court may be moved by the administrator without warning

Bookings can be made for a minimum of 30 mins, and a maximum of 1 hour 30 mins

Members may book courts between 8.30am until 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 9 pm on Sundays.

Courts may be booked 365 days a year

Booking courts in peak time

We have set slots in peak times in order to maximise court usage, if your court falls outside of these, it will be moved by the administrators:

  • Monday / Thursday / Friday - 17:30 / 19:00 / 20:30
  • Tuesday - 18:30 / 20:00 on Team Practise courts, 17:30 / 19:00 / 20:30 on other courts
  • Saturday / Sunday – 8:30 / 10:00 / 11:30

Cancellations and no-shows

We understand that plans can change, however, it's expected that court bookings are cancelled with plenty of notice. Peak time bookings cancelled at short notice should be advertised on the WhyatsApp group (MPLTC social tennis), or inform Catherine / Gareth who can do it on your behalf

Please show respect for your fellow members in this regard. The committee will monitor, warn, and then penalise members who book courts and do not show up, or who cancel courts with a higher frequency than is reasonable

Other Rules

2 Players playing each other can only book one court. Members are not permitted to book multiple courts and hedge their bets on the weather

  • Members who book more than one court at a time will have the additional court/s cancelled without notice

AI tools or Programmed “Bots” are not permitted for booking courts

As a busy members club, we need to make a reasonable number of bookings. Members should not book more than 2 peak time courts in a week

Lastly and most importantly, always use the booking system and courts in the spirit of a members club, with thoughtfulness and respect for other club members

Penalties

Seldom does the board need to censure members, but realistically we must occasionally consider penalties. Whilst we will try and educate members and give warning, sometimes suspension is required. Penalties start with a 2 week booking rights suspension and increase from there for repeated offences
