24 Hour Tennis Marathon (30/31st July)

We held our 24-hour tennis marathon (10am to 10am + presentation till 11am) on 30th/31st July to raise funds for a new clubhouse (and East Anglia Air Ambulance – as a local charity).

Many thanks to Jan Beamish-Mann, Lynn Caswell, Paul Cunningham and Iain Kimber for their efforts to make the event happen.

We were aiming to raise in the region of 3K (part of this going to East Anglian Air Ambulance). The club would then fund the difference to purchase a new club hut.

Although we have one or two donations still to come in - we raised an amazing £1282 from over 55 supporters on our Just Giving page and a further £1613 from the 26 members who took part on court (by being sponsored) and at least 10 cash donations from those members who were away. In total we have raised a total of £2895. We will be presenting a cheque (for £1000) to the East Anglian Air Ambulance at our Quiz and Presentation Evening at the Maltings Pavilion on Saturday 21st October.

There was plenty of enthusiasm from those taking part on the actual two days (30/31st July). We had at least two players continually on court for the duration of the event – sometimes more with the fixed coaching/social/cardio and junior coaching sessions – which were included. At the end there was a short presentation of the BTC 24 Hour Medals and bottle of Tindall’s beer - by chairperson Juliet.
