Safeguarding at HTC

Our Safeguarding policies and processes are based on the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and associated bodies standards, policies and procedures. - https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/safeguarding-protection/# - and cover the following:

Safeguarding

Houghton Tennis Club is committed to prioritising the well-being of all children and adults at risk, promoting safeguarding in our club at all times, including all programmes and events we run. Our safeguarding policy strives to minimise risk, deliver a positive tennis experience for everyone and respond appropriately to all safeguarding concerns/disclosures.  It also meets the standards required by the LTA.

A flow chart summarising the policy is displayed on the clubhouse notice board and a copy of the whole policy may be downloaded from this link.

Health & Safety

Houghton Tennis Club is strongly committed to encouraging members, non-members and visitors to take part in the playing of tennis, with the well-being and safety of each individual being of paramount concern.  The club has a comprehensive H&S policy and statement to ensure this is achieved.  This is supported by a risk assessment process based on regular inspections of the club’s facilities with reporting to the committee on risks identified and action taken.  A copy of the H&S policy and statement is displayed on the notice board in the clubhouse and a copy may be down-loaded from this link.

Diversity and Inclusion, and Anti-bullying

Our Diversity and Inclusion Policy and our Anti-Bullying Policy are based on the British Tennis policies and includes a Code of Conduct and Reporting Procedure.  As a club we contribute actively to enable more people to play tennis more often, in a manner that it is safe, inclusive, and fair. This applies regardless of a person’s age, disability, gender reassignment status, sex, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, race or sexual orientation, socio-economic status or any other background.  A copy of our Diversity and Inclusion policy is displayed on the notice board in the clubhouse and a copy may be down-loaded from this link. A copy of the Anti-Bullying Policey is available to download from this link.

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations)

Houghton Tennis Club will comply with the requirements of GDPR and will request members to consent to their data being held in accordance with this policy. We have carried out a detailed “Data Audit” of all data held, to review why and where it is held, the legal basis for holding the data, who can access it, the security details in place (safe storage and disposal) and how long it is held.  A copy of our Privacy Statement is displayed on the notice board in the clubhouse and a copy may be down-loaded from this link.
