In the week 13 - 20 August our Head Coach, Gary Payton, took a week away from coaching to head down to London to take part in the British Masters Grass Court Championships held at the Wimbledon All England Club. Playing in a strong field, many of whom play in tournaments all around Europe, Gary had a fantastic week winning both the singles and the doubles events in his category. We hope that these wins will mean he gets selected for the GB team in the 2024 World Championships.
We have persuaded Gary to write a few words about this amazing achievement which are copied below:
'I was lucky enough to win the British National Grass Court Championships (singles and doubles) Masters titles at Wimbledon a couple of weeks ago. Singles final result was 6/1, 6/2, dubs final result was 6/3, 6/4. The win should also earn me a place back on the GB team for Mexico City World champs next year with any luck.'
