Togetherness is the winner at tournament!
What a day of fun at SLTC‘s Fundraising Ladies Tournament held on 9 June. A truly inclusive event with lots of laughter, food and lively tennis. Everyone had a great time on and off the court.
The tennis was competitive with 12 ladies‘ pairs challenging each other. Our worthy champions were Emily Fox and Annalise Meyers and additional awards went to Caryn Ackerley, Sharon Durler and Rachel Borley, Penny Powell, and Moira Wands.
Enjoyable though the tennis was, the day was about much more than match play. We were there to enjoy one another‘s company and to raise money for the Club. There was an extensive raffle with loads of fantastic prizes and a "Name the Baby" competition. The money raised will go to a (yet to be decided) dedicated cause at the Club.
Another highlight was the food. How lucky we were to be served a sumptuous two-course lunch sourced from Anna Astin at COOK Woodbridge — COOK‘s Community Kitchen scheme provides food at a generous discount for community events — along with other delicious donations, courtesy of Aga.
Our enormous thanks to all who participated, donated and helped, and to Ben and Stringers World for providing tennis balls and prizes. Well done to Jane Cox, Debs Lawton-Abbott, Anna Astin, Chantelle Lillie, Aga Wilk, and Karen West for organising such an enjoyable event.
