Investment shows the way forward
On Monday 2 March 2026 we were honoured that Stowmarket’s Mayor, David Child, came to officially open our new solar panels. These were primarily funded with the support of Stowmarket Town Council’s Sport Facilities Fund.
We are proud to have taken these steps towards a sustainable club and planet and the Council is also proud of the part they have played. You can read all about the Mayor’s visit and the project (along with photos) by visiting the Town Council’s news pages.
This is actually just the start of some big plans for the club - we have lots on our wishlist. These plans were started by previous committees and we are pleased to have been able to start to bring them to fruition.
Small changes can have a big impact.
Has everyone noticed our new sign at the front entrance? People in town certainly have and we’re really putting SLTC on the map.
Or the new hand dryer? This seems a trivial change, but fewer hand towels being mistakenly flushed has an impact on how our septic tank copes. We’re pleased to report that after a number of visits by Binders our septic tank issues are resolved. Thanks in advance for using our lowly new hand dryer… a small appliance with a big job to do!
Back to the solar panels. We are pleased to report that with the coming of spring sunshine we have already had our first day where we produced more electricity than we could use (even keeping the dome up!) and started selling back to the grid.
