IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Suffolk Lawn Tennis Association is pleased to announce the introduction of a new Development and Performance Tennis Programme for Junior players.

The committee has for some time been investigating best practice across the country, looking at other counties programmes. There is no “one model fits all” as there is so much diversity in geography, skills, participation and funding.  However, we want to introduce a programme that is inclusive at all ability levels and ages, and develop a pathway to engage players from clubs and schools across the county.  Ultimately leading to greater participation in tennis and strengthening our county level teams.

 The new programme will be led by an independent company “Tennis Growth Partnership Ltd”.  Headed by experienced Suffolk Coaches, Ben Thompson, Emily Stebbings and Ben Smith, who in 2021 introduced the successful “Tennis Grand Prix” that has now been adopted by the LTA and promoted nationwide.  In close collaboration with leading ISC coach Chris Daynes, TGP Ltd will continue to engage with coaches and clubs across the county to deliver the programme.

We would like to thank Laura Bugg for her work in managing the performance programme and the successes she has achieved with teams at county level.  Over the course of the next few weeks Laura will be handing over the reins, and TGP will be in contact with parents and players to communicate their plans.

In the coming weeks we will be holding information sessions for coaches and parents, further information on venue, date and times will be communicated soon.
