County and district leagues are hugely popular across Great Britain and it is estimated that around 100,000 players compete in local leagues.  Events are run for juniors, adults and seniors with varying levels of playing standards with team sizes ranging from 4 to 6 players. 

The league format is decided by the league organiser and/or league committee with home and away fixtures played over winter and summer seasons. Predominantly the leagues are doubles-based although a number of junior leagues in particular run singles and doubles formats.

Summer Leagues

West Somerset Tennis League

Formed in March 1982 by Richard Archer, who still serves as Chairman, the league has 37 teams in 5 Divisions of Mixed Doubles and one of Men's.  11 clubs take part from Minehead in the west to Hemyock in the south and includes 6 clubs in Taunton. 

Yeovil and District Summer Tennis League

The league was founded in January 1969 with 15 teams spread across 2 divisions, Men’s and Mixed. There are now 123 teams playing during the summer or the winter.  

The Summer League has 5 Men's divisions, 4 Ladies divisions and 4 Mixed divisions.

The North Somerset Tennis League

The League was formed in 1968 with 4 clubs, two of which, Congresbury and Clevedon are still in the League.  By 2019 the League comprised 22 Clubs and 149 teams.

In the summer there are 8 Men's divisions and 7 Ladies.   

Somerset Youth & National League

National League Summer is a singles based team competition open for all LTA Registered Venues. It aims to provide players of all ages (8&U – Open) with regular league matches, against players of a similar standard in a competitive team environment. Currently we have over 25,000 players taking part in the competition each year.

Yeovil and District Winter Tennis League

The Winter League has 4 Mixed divisions.

The results are emailed to team captains on a weekly basis by the league organiser.

The North Somerset Tennis League

Somerset National League - Winter

National League - Winter, is a new singles based team competition open to all LTA Registered venues, launched in Winter 2019. Following the success of the summer competition, it aims to provide players of all ages from 8U – 18U with regular league matches, against similar standard players throughout the winter months.
