SAFEGUARDING POLICY
POLICY STATEMENT
Wellington Tennis Club acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults at risk. The club is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and complies with best practice and LTA requirements.
The club’s safeguarding policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children and adults at risk are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, socio-economic background, all children and adults
Wellington Tennis Club acknowledges that some children, including disabled children and young people or those from ethnic minority communities, can be particularly vulnerable to abuse and we accept the responsibility to take reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure their welfare.
As part of our safeguarding policy Wellington Tennis Club will:
The Wellington Lawn Tennis Club Safeguarding Policy, Standards, Code of Conduct and Reporting a Safeguarding Concern Procedure are applicable to:
• All Committee members
• All Coaching Staff
• All Members of the club and visitors.
This Policy, Standards and Code of Conduct strive to minimise risk and support our club, programmes, events and individuals to deliver a positive tennis experience for everyone. The Reporting a Safeguarding Concern Procedure outlines how to respond to safeguarding concerns/disclosures. The LTA and club recognises that it has a responsibility to safeguard children and adults at risk, including due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into extremism and terrorism (the Prevent Duty).
The club’s policy and procedures will be widely promoted and are mandatory for everyone involved in Wellington Tennis Club. Failure to comply with the policy and procedures will be addressed and may result in dismissal/exclusion from the club.
Whistleblowing
Anyone who does not feel comfortable raising a concern with the Club Welfare Officer should contact the LTA Safeguarding Team directly on 020 8487 7000, the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) or the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000. Further details about whistleblowing can be found in the club’s safeguarding policy.

The club’s safeguarding policy will be reviewed every two years, or sooner in the following circumstances:

Online Safety and Communication
We are situated in The Playing Fields, Wellington, alongside the cricket and football Clubs.
By car- The best way to access the courts is to park in the free car park in Courtland Road car park and walk to the rear of the car park. You enter the field and the courts are at the far right hand side of the field.
Alternatively, there is a pay and display car park in North Street. Walk through a lane between the public toilets and football Club and the courts are at the opposite side of the field.
By foot- Walk up Court Drive which is oppostie the Wellesley Cinema on mantle Street and walk through the small resident's carpark and you are right beside the courts.
