Club Tournaments

Each year the Club runs 3 tennis tournaments for members:

Ivor Jones Trophy
Dell Trophy
Juler Trophy

Below are the reports for all three tournaments in 2025:-

Sunday 28 September 10am - Juler Trophy:

Due to holidays/availability this tournament had been postponed on a couple of occasions but finally twelve members of Lowestoft Town Tennis and Pickleball Club took part in the annual end of summer season Juler Trophy tennis tournament. It was great weather and seven 20 minute rounds of competitive tennis were played with different partners and against different opponents. Some lovely tennis played and all finished with a super buffet. Thanks to Sally Lambert and Verna Swan for time keeping. The highest scoring lady was Sally Juler with 20 games and joint runners up were Desi Reed and Debbie Faulkner on 18 games. Joint winners for the men were Wayne Bover and Richard Brabben on 31 games. Many thanks to Richard for organising the tournament and to all the helpers.

Thursday 17 July 5.30pm - Dell Trophy:

The event has taken place since 1973, the trophy having been presented by the Dell Club that played in Dell Road and then at the Claremont Pier courts, when it joined with Gunton Park Tennis club which is now the Lowestoft Town Tennis and Pickleball Club.

The evening involved six 20 minute matches with sudden death deuces for each of the eight pairs. Tournament orgaaniser Richard Brabben said that the event was well contested with a close finish. Andrew Turner kept the scoring and timings monirotied to ensure a smooth event. Runners up were Sue Kershaw and Richard Brabben with 21 games but the winners, with 25 games, were Andy Podd and Billy Round.

Well done to the winners and thanks go to Richard and Andrew for their organisation.
