Opportunities to Play

Whether you are new to the game or whether you have played for many years there are many opportunities to get on court at Ashby Castle Lawn Tennis Club.

Club Tennis

There are the two club nights per week. These are Tuesday and Friday nights from 6.00pm until 8.30pm. All members are welcome to these and everyone has an opportunity to play with different partners and opponents, usually doubles. These sessions are ideal for playing tennis in a friendly and sociable atmosphere but they are not for the complete beginner. The club coach Alex will be happy to advise you if you have any doubts about your playing ability.

Many members organise their own tennis, either singles or doubles, and many members also play in regular arranged groups.

Finally, the club organises many tournaments throughout the year, both large and small. In August the Town Tournament is held at the club and players come from neighbouring counties to compete. In September there is the Club Championships, open only to club members. This offers a wide range of events to suit every age and ability.  During the year there are other smaller tournaments in which to compete.

League Tennis

Four men’s teams, 2 men's veterans teams, two ladies’ and two ladies' veterans teams  plus 2 mixed teams compete in the Leicestershire County Summer League, offering match play opportunities for all levels of ability. Some promising juniors play in these teams, gaining valuable experience.

Two men’s teams, two ladies’ teams and three mixed teams play in the Summer Burton League.

In the Winter League one men’s team and one ladies’ team play in the Leicestershire League.
