Medbourne Tennis Club Rules
Medbourne Tennis Club Rules can be reviewed by the committee at any time and any changes are ratified and published at the AGM.
A. Annual General Meeting
- Will be held in January; 3 weeks’ notice having been given.
- A Management Committee of up to twelve members including a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer will be elected at the AGM to serve for one year.
- Decisions by the Management Committee will be by simple majority with the Chairman having the casting vote.
- Annual subscriptions and visitor fees will be confirmed at the AGM
B. The Courts
- Sports clothing and non-marking shoes (jeans and non-tennis clothes are not acceptable) must be worn inside the court. Non-regulation shoes including trainers damage the court surface.
- Members may book a court in advance through the website for a timed session.
- Players shall vacate the court at the end of their booked time. No player who has occupied a court may take part in a new set if other players are waiting for a game.
- All senior members will be given the code to access the courts and it is their responsibility to ensure the padlock is replaced on leaving the court.
- Children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult when using the courts
- No pets shall be allowed on the court.
- No activities apart from tennis will be permitted on the courts.
- A non-member may only play as a guest three times in any one year.
- All members play at their own risk. Courts are slippery when damp, wet or icy.
- Any accident must be recorded on the sheets provided in the Club’s light meter cupboard and reported to a committee member
C. Subscriptions
- Annual subscription fees will be confirmed at the AGM
- A 12-month membership starts on the day of purchase and is renewable on that date the following year
- Application for renewal or new membership to be made through the club website
- Payments to be made on line by debit or credit card
- Payments can be made for full year or in 12 monthly instalments
- Players must be signed-up members of the club for at least two weeks before they can represent the club in Leicestershire league matches
D. Finance
- All cheques from the Club must be signed by two approved signatories.
- The Club’s account will be audited each year by an independent auditor (a person who is not a committee member).
- The accounts will be presented to the AGM each year for approval by the members.
E. General
- All new members will be sent a Welcome letter which references the Club Rules, Policies and Safeguarding procedures. They will also be listed on the club’s notice board, with full details available on the website, and must be observed by all members.
- The committee shall have power to recommend to the members in any AGM or EGM, amendments to the constitution, to be approved by two thirds majority.
- The committee shall have the power to expel any member for breach of the rules or damage to the Club’s property
- In circumstances of gross misconduct, a member will be given one warning only before expulsion, although in the most severe cases and at the committee’s discretion expulsion will be immediate.
- The club has a child protection policy and a named Welfare Officer whose contact details are on the website and on the notice board.
- The Club has a Whistleblowing policy, which must be adhered to. Anyone breaching this will be asked to leave the club.
- Anyone using the clubhouse must ensure that it is left clean and tidy and all doors and windows are locked and secure and the alarm is activated.
