Tennis Leicestershire Board

 

Kate Stock - Chairman  & Chairman of Club Loan Scheme
Kate joined the Board in 2013. She is a life long tennis player of Syston Northfields where she is currently Chair.  She is also treasurer of the County Closed. She has represented the county at several age groups and is the senior co-ordinator for Leicestershire.  Kate works in the family business in Thurmaston.

Mike Piper - LTA Councillor
Former Chairman of Tennis Leicestershire Mike is a life-long keen tennis player, has represented the county at senior level and is currently President of The Leicestershire Lawn Tennis & Squash Club. He has a background in venture capital and private equity and was a Director of 31 plc for circa 10 years.  He is now non-executive chairman and investor in several local businesses. Mike is also a member of the rotary club of Leicester. His role as LTA Councillor for Leicestershire  means the county is represented at a national level with the LTA. 

Tony Jarvis - Director & Lead Volunteer
Tony joined the Tennis Leicestershire board of directors in 2008. He has now stepped down as the LTA Councillor for Leicestershire .  Tony is Chairman of the Charitable Trust. 

Geoff Bone - Director
Geoff is a former Head of National Competition at the LTA and joined the board of Tennis Leicestershire in 2008 with the responsibility for competitions. Geoff was for several years the Tournaments Director for the Leicestershire Junior County Closed

Neil Phillips – Director & Member of Media and Events Committee
Neil Phillips is a lifelong tennis player and has represented Leicestershire at junior, senior and veterans' level. He also represented Leicestershire at rugby union and played a handful of games for Leicester Tigers in the 1970s.
Before coming to Leicester, he played football for Lancashire schools whilst living in his native Blackpool. He has been chairman of Great Glen Tennis Club for the last eleven years. He recently stood down as chairman of Tennis Leicestershire's Media and Events committee. Now semi-retired, Neil has been in practice as a chartered surveyor for the last 40 years.

John McGowan - Director for Disability Tennis
John joined the board in January 2022 and has played league tennis at Hinckley Town for over 30 years. In this time he held various positions at the club, including seven years as Chairman. He set up the first disability tennis sessions in Hinckley in 2013. Before retirement he worked as a secondary school language teacher and was heavily involved in organising schools tennis.

Alison Ison - Director for Sponsorship
Alison joined the board in 2016 and has been involved in Leicestershire tennis for many years and plays at Roundhill Tennis Club. She is a member of the Senior County Championships Committee and also has taken on the role of sponsorship for Tennis Leicestershire. If anyone has any interest in sponsorship please contact Alison. On a personal note Alison works for a very famous local crisp company.

Linsey Richmond  -  Director & County Safeguarding Officer (CSO) & Chairman of Media and Events Committee
Linsey joined the board in 2016 after volunteering on the Media and Events Committee.  She also has responsibility for Safeguarding in the County and is the designated County Safeguarding Officer. She is mum to 3 sons who all play tennis and is a keen supporter of tennis tournaments at all levels. Linsey is a Lecturer in Business at a local FE College.

Steve Stroud - Director & Chairman of Competitions Committee 

Steve joined the Board in 2018 having represented the County for over 40 years and is currently Club Captain for Leicester Forest East Tennis Club for whom he has played in the top divisions throughout.
Steve is a permanent fixture at the County Championships and has recently become part of the committee. Off court Steve uses his Marketing and E Commerce experience to drive expansion.

Eamonn Canavan - Director & Treasurer

 Eamonn joined the Board in 2021 and has a background in accounting, with experience in both small and large organisations in a wide variety of roles. He is currently Treasurer at Enderby Lawn Tennis Club and has been a member of the club for over twenty years.
