Safeguarding
At Whitehaven Community Tennis Club, we are fully committed to prioritising the welfare and wellbeing of all children, young people, and adults. Safeguarding is at the heart of our club’s values, and we strive to promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment at all times.
We ensure that our safeguarding practices reflect current legislation, statutory responsibilities, government guidance, and best practice, in full compliance with LTA requirements.
A copy of the club’s full safeguarding policy is available here: WCTC Safeguarding Policy
This policy is designed to minimise risk, provide a positive tennis experience for all, and ensure that all safeguarding concerns or disclosures are handled appropriately and sensitively. It applies to all staff, volunteers, committee members, coaches, and club members.
Further advice, guidance, and support are available via the club’s Welfare Officers or through the LTA safeguarding resources.
Welfare Contacts
Welfare Officer: Sally Brown
Deputy Welfare Officer: Gavin Stephenson
Both officers can be contacted via:
Email: info@whitehavenctc.co.uk
or through the club’s contact form.
All enquiries and concerns will be handled in the strictest confidence. If you would prefer to be contacted directly by one of the Welfare Officers, please provide your name and contact number, and arrangements will be made accordingly.
Our Commitment
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. It is essential that any concerns are reported and addressed appropriately.
Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
If you have a safeguarding concern, you are encouraged to report it to the Welfare Officer or Deputy Welfare Officer, either in person or via the contact details above.
Alternatively, concerns can be reported directly through the LTA’s secure online reporting form:
https://safeguardingconcern.lta.org.uk
A safeguarding concern may include allegations of abuse or situations where a child or an adult at risk (as defined by the Care Act 2014) may be at risk of harm or has experienced harm.
All concerns will be treated with sensitivity and confidentiality. While the club has a duty to refer certain matters to the appropriate authorities, such as the police or local authority, this will always be discussed with you and, wherever possible, done with your consent.
