PLTC Social Scene

At PLTC tennis is important, however we feel that the social scene that we create at the club is equally important, and over the last 10 years we have developed a lively and vibrant calendar of events that put PLTC in a unique position as a tennis club in South Wales.

The clubhouse, which is over 100 years old, was recently re-furbished allowing us to create a lovely environment to socialise both in the summer and the winter. In the summer open all the large doors and windows and the bar becomes an extension of the superb outside area that we have. In the winter, with the wood burner lit, close all the doors and the clubhouse becomes a very welcoming place no matter what the temperature is outside. The grounds in the summer provide a great place to bring your children, they are completely secure allowing parents relax whilst their children explore the grounds and use the small play area that we have.

Social Events

We host a wide range of annual social events as seen below. Be sure to check the calendar above to find out when they are scheduled. The vast majority of our events run by volunteers click here to find out how you can get involved. 

Music and Food Festival 

Normally held on the August bank holiday weekend. The club lines up an afternoon of performances from a range of local bands that perform on the club's decking. The far end of the grounds contain a selection of street food vendors for you to pick and mix. Its an event not to be missed. Entry is by ticket only. 

PLTC Bonfire Night & Fireworks Display

On the nearest Friday to Guy Fawkes Night we have a traditional bonfire  and fireworks display. The event has gone from strength to strength and is our most popular event in the club's calendar. Entry is by ticket only.

Quiz Nights

During the months the holds a series of quiz nights. Each quiz is hosted by a different member of the club to provide an interesting selection of quiz themes and styles. Teams can enter one event but most enter all events in order to be crowned the year's quiz champions! 

Wine Tasting Evenings

From time to time the club likes to refresh its Wine selection on offer behind the bar. We purchase our wine from The Bottle Shop in Penarth who host a wine tasting evening for the members. Members get to taste a selection of wines and also learn about them too. Volunteers also provide canapes to accompany each wine. Members then score the wines and the winners get stocked behind the bar. Members also get the opportunity to purchase their favourite wines at a special rate at the end of the evening. 

Live Bands & Open Mic Nights

Who doesn't like a sing and a dance. Throughout the year the club hosts bands and line up members to perform in an open mic session for a good old fashioned sing-a-long. 

Christmas Parties 

Each year on the lead up to Christmaswe hold three events. A Men's and Ladies Tennis Social and a Christmas Carol Night hosted by the chairman.
