Junior classes and squads 2020

RLTC runs a variety of junior tennis classes and invitation-only squads based on ability and age.  2020 classes and squads start from Monday 14 September.

To comply with LTA guidance on Covid 19, each class or squad is allowed a maximum of 12 children taking part in any one session - please check with coach on availability.  We also have to log all participants' names and contact details for track and trace purposes.

If your child wishes to join a class or squad that has already started please email head coach Michael Jones.

Please note all juniors taking classes or  playing in a squad at Richmond Lawn Tennis Club also need to be members of RLTC.

Junior tennis classes (weekdays)
Mini Tennis (ages 5 to 7)
Mondays 3.45 to 4.30pm
Wednesdays 4 to 5pm
Combines fun lessons and activities. Children are introduced to tennis in a progressions format geared to their athletic development as they grow and learn.

Richmond Bronze class, ages 8 to 10 (based on ability)
Tuesdays and Thursdays 4pm to 5.30 pm
Played in three quarter and full court. Players should be rallying more comfortably and starting to develop their topspin. Thinking about where to place the ball during point play.

Richmond Silver class, age 11 and over
Thursdays 5:30 pm to 7pm
Players should be rallying of baseline using topspin off both sides, having a good understanding of match play, when to be defensive and aggressive.


Junior squads - all by invitation only
Mini Orange Squad 
Mondays 4pm to 5.30pm

Green Squad
Mondays 4:30pm to 6pm

Bronze Squad, Under 11s 
Mondays 5.30pm to 7pm

Richmond Silver Squad - 11 years and over (by invitation only)
Mondays 6.30 to 7pm
Should have developed consistency, placement, increased ball speed and a high level of control utilizing all types of spin. Great match play ability.

Richmond Gold Squad 
Tuesdays 5:30 pm to 7pm
Should have developed consistency, placement, increased ball speed and a high level of control utilizing all types of spin. Great match play ability.

Junior coaching prices
45 minute class: £7.50
1 hour class: £10
1.5 hour class: £15

Saturday Junior Tennis
Lessons will cater to maturity. Children will be introduced to tennis in a progressions format geared to their athletic development, developing all the skills needed to become a great tennis player.

Each hour lesson is £10. Coaching starts on Saturday 19 September 2020.  The class is limited to 12 children.

Richmond “T2”, ages 10 - 11

Richmond “T4”, ages 14 and over
Saturday: 12pm to 1pm
 

Important notes
The 2020 junior weekday coaching programme starts from Monday 14 September.
Autumn term: Monday 14 September to Saturday 19 December
Spring term 2021: Monday 4 January to Saturday 27 March
Summer term: Monday 19 April to Saturday 24 July

There will be no tennis on the following weeks:
October half-term:  26 October to 1 November
Half-term: 15 February
Easter holidays: 30 March
May half-term: 31 May
Summer holidays: 24 July
 
All juniors taking classes at Richmond Lawn Tennis Club also need to be members of RLTC.

Annual Junior Membership: Aged 6 to 18 years on 1 May 2020 - £55
Annual Child Membership: Aged under 6 years on 1 May 2020 - £30

- Each class must have a minimum of 3 people to run.  If there isn’t the required number you will be offered the option of a private lesson.

- Consent forms MUST be provided annually.

- Please contact the coach if you’re unsure class will be taking place. Bad weather conditions do happen and a refund or an extra class will be offered if this happens more than once per term.
