14U Girls County Cup Report

Over the weekend, the Somerset 14U girls travelled to Bideford Tennis Centre in Devon to compete in the County Cup.

Across two days of fantastic competition, the girls represented Somerset with pride, showing outstanding effort, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout.

While we didn’t secure a fixture win, there were plenty of closely contested matches and individual successes. The experience proved hugely valuable, with the girls learning important lessons to take forward in their development. Notably, two of our players are still eligible for this age group for the next two years, which is very promising for the future.

The atmosphere was incredibly positive, not just within our team but across all counties. The level of competition was high, but the spirit remained friendly and respectful. A special mention goes to the two referees, who were exceptionally well-organized, supportive, and approachable for both players and coaches.

The girls showed maturity beyond their age, taking initiative in team decisions and showing leadership throughout. Their attitude, behaviour, and commitment were excellent, and they should be very proud of their performances and how they conducted themselves.
